Can I say how fun it has been to have Shannon around. We all miss Colby, but when Shan is here playing the piano or just chatting, it's like there is a little bit of Colby here with us! I just wanted to add this into the Sanford/Sorensen History. We love you Shan! --the Sanford's

"Halloween" Afternoon

Yesterday it was "Halloween" in Provo. Downtown there was a door-to-door Trick or Treating event. The kids went from store to "tagged" store. It was rainy but fun. Esther was a drenched ballerina , Bridget an adorable Minnie Mouse, Joe a basketball player, Junie a colorful fowl and Adam a Marathon runner (His costume was possibly inspired by his Mom who ran a marathon earlier in the day. Go Ingrid!!!)

We all had fun. The kids were laughing and joking and dodging puddles the entire time. Joe munched on the candy as we went. The Diamond store gave out full size "Snickers". Sugar rush! We discovered that Bridget loves "Tootsie Rolls" better than the other treats offered. Yum! At the Bookstore they gave out..."a pen, a pencil, an eraser, a pen...oops! I lost track, take another pen." The kids scored there. The workers at the hospital rental equipment store were dressed in "Alice and Wonderland" costumes. I wish I would've taken their pics. The Mad Hatter was fabulous!!! In front of Heindselman's Yarns a man was doing magic tricks. He had "ET fingertips". They lit up. He pulled red fuzzies out of Joey's ears, and he ate a ghost's cookie. I made the kids say "Gracias" for the treats at the El Salvadoran Restaurant. We met up with a family of vampires who live on our block, the Woods. We walked with them a bit then we headed back to our car and they to theirs. The rain came pelting down just about the time we jumped back in the van. The rain was hard and the wind blew the rain in sheets across the street. We could see the rain was being pushed by the wind as we saw the movement of the puddles. Once again a fun Sanford 'n Sorensen activity. :D

Camp/Call

Our YW girls went to camp this past week (June 21-26). This is a photo of Junie, Emma and Claire. It was Shannon's last year of camp. She and Claire were Youth Leaders. Ingrid was one of the Ward Leaders. With Ingrid there Emma could stay the entire time. I'm glad Ingrid was there especially because it was Junie's first year. It was comforting to know her fav Mom (other than me-haha) would be there for her. I wish Shan and Ingrid were in this photo.

While they were at Camp, Colby got his Mission call. He waited to share the letter/announcement with both of our families together. The Camp bus was home for maybe 20 minutes when we all (Sanfords and Sorensens) gathered by our garden. I still need to post the pic I have of Colbs standing and reading the call. I hope I can find it. (Wouldn't it be great to selectively grab the photos from our minds and post them?)

It was a good week full of new adventures & ups and downs of emotions for both families...each and every person. Camp and THE Call...things we shared this past week.

Had too much fun spelling family names with Scrabble tiles. Next time we will make a Sanford version. Ice cream, brownies, and fun games, and talking out in the dark and rain = good times!

Creative Kids

Today became "put on a play" day at our house. Bridge, Goo, and Joe put on a great little play about fairies, and a ball, and a murder mystery, all rolled into one. Am and I watched them perform and commented how it seemed a whole lot like "A Midsummer Night's Dream." I don't think they've ever seen or even heard of that one, so I guess it was just a coincidence. It was very cute!

Ingrid treated me to an American Mother's Brunch on Saturday, 9 May, 2009. She said some really sweet things about me. Someone got it on film--(I just wish it had been at a different angle!---like not at my chin!!!!) I love Ingrid! She is the younger sister I never had. :)

OK--I've noticed this week that Peterman has gone out to the bus earlier than he used to. I looked out at the bus stop (in my front yard) and saw he wasn't standing there. Strange. I thought he had gone to Chandler's to get him...and then "lightbulb went on." I was out at the car taking Wacky to Choir practice and I saw the bus make it's stop--with Peterman already on it...chatting to a cute gal--Emma. This whole week he's been walking to her bus stop (her front yard) 2 blocks away. That gives them, what...a whole 10 minutes more to talk to each other. I don't blame him!

I am happy and pleased to bring you my first post of a blog that, as the description states, is a combination of the adventures of two families that are best friends (maybe that is not there- it should be). So, yesterday Lila was looking through some pics and realized, once again that we have LOTS of pics of us & our dear friends the Sorensen's. We happen to love to be around them, and we Sanford's go into withdrawal if we go too long without a family activity in common. When we get together Lila or someone always has a camera...and so it goes.
